The
Refuge

In the last days the mountain of the Lord’s temple will be established as chief among the mountains;
it will be raised above the hills, and people will stream to it.  Many nations will come and say, “come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
to the house of God of Jacob.”           Micah 4:1-2

Sermon Notes

A TALL Order

 Text: Philippians 4:6

Thesis: “Peace is the fruit of a believing prayer”

 I. God commands us to be anxiety free.

“Do not be anxious about anything.”(vs6a)

A. Anxiety is a part of the human condition but not part of God’s plan for the Christian.

B. There is a difference between Godly concern and anxiety that produces mental, physical and relational destruction.

C. Only with God is it possible to be anxiety free.

II. God’s Word teaches us that we can take “everything to God in prayer.” (vs6b)

A. “EVERTHING” means there are no limitations to the size or number of our difficulties that we can give to God.

“There is nothing to great for God’s power; and nothing to small for his fatherly care.” Unknown

1. God may choose to remove your difficulty.

2. God may not choose to remove your difficulty but will provide a “sufficient grace” for your time of need.

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9)

III. God gives us a recourse, an alternative to worry and anxiety.

A. The Apostle Paul’s solution is pray.

“Prayer is the KEY to Power.”

1. Prayer opens the door of our heavenly father’s heart.

2. God loves you and cares about your struggles.

B. God’s word commands us to “Cast all of our anxiety on him because he cares for you.”(1Peter5:7)
