Text: Philippians 4:10-13
Thesis: “I have learned the secret to being content in any and every situation.” vs 12b

 I. The Apostle Paul generously _________________ his gratitude for all that the Philippians
     had done for him. (vs10)

                A. It is truly _______________ ________________ (Christian) to express gratitude but ungodly to be ungrateful.

                                1. Praise God from whom all blessings flow. (see James 1:17)

                                                a. The first step in ________________ is failing to thank God.

For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him,
but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. (Romans 1:21)

                                2. Learn to say _________________ to family members.

But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves,
lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,
without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good,
treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God-- having a form of
godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them. (2Timothy 3:1-5)

Action Step:  Ask the Holy Spirit to _________________ you to have an “attitude of gratitude”.

“We tend to rely on our own energy, instead of being energized by the power
that comes from identification with Jesus.” Oswald Chambers

                                1. Peace comes when we recognize that ________________ God’s child is
different than ________________ as God’s child.

                                2. Allow God to transform you from being a _________________ to being a
                                   _________________ Christian.

II. The Apostle Paul “learned the secret of being content.” vs 12

                A. Our Heavenly Father wants all of his children to be content.

But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world,
and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. (1Timothy 6:6-8)

                                1. The Apostle Paul uses the Greek word (autarkes) which means
                                   _________________ self-sufficient.

                                2. The Apostle Paul knew that contentment did not consist in possessing much
                                   but wanting _________________.

                                3. Thanksgiving does not depend on the __________________ conditions of life
                                   but _________________condition of the soul.

Action Step:  Ask God to help you be content with what you have.

                B. The Apostle Paul understood that his sufficiency was not self-sufficiency but
                    _____________-__________________.

I can do everything through him who gives me strength.  (Philippians 4:13)
