Text Box: GOD SPLIT HISTORY     TEXT:             Philippians 2:8-11 THESIS:        All history is dated either B.C. or A.D. depending on its relationship to Christ’s                             coming.              I.       To ___________________ that “Jesus Christ is Lord” is to proclaim the first                    creed the Christian Church ever had.                                       A.     The Apostle Paul in Romans 10:9 states, “That if you confess with your mouth,                              ‘Jesus is Lord’ and believe in your heart that God ________________ him from                              the dead, you will be saved.”                      B.     The origin of the Church began with two _______________ cataclysmic events.   1. No other religious leader prior to or after Jesus has experienced the resurrection power of God. 2. Pentecost further empowered the Christian movement with the coming of the third person of the Trinity, the _______________     _________________.            II.     After the Resurrection and Pentecost the whole world _____________ to                           ________ at the name of Jesus.                      A.     The ______________ was so great that the following five major events took place                              in history:                               1.      The disciples went to their death proclaiming “Jesus Christ as Lord”.                               2.      Shortly after the resurrection skeptics like Paul and James were converted.                               3.      “Within weeks after the crucifixion, thousands of Jews began abandoning key                                       social practices that had critical sociological and religious importance for                                      centuries.”    Lee Strobel                               4.      The new Christian practices of communion (instituted by Jesus) and baptism                                       (practiced by Jews) affirmed Jesus’ deity and resurrection.                               5.      The emergence of the church in spite of strong Roman persecution “rips a                                     great hole in history, a hole the size and shape of Resurrection”, as C.F. D.                                      Moule put it.            III.    In the name of Jesus, the Church continues to _________________ with great                    power, even two thousand years later.                      A.     Today there is estimated to be 2.1 billion Christians in the ______________.  This                              makes up approximately one-third of the world’s population.                      B.     The final confession of “Jesus as Lord” will take place at the_______________                             Coming of Jesus.
