Text Box:    God Can Do Anything but Fail    Text:    James 1:21-25 Thesis:  “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”  (I John 1:9)    I.  James paints a picture of a person who goes to Church and hears the truth and       believes that just because he or she listened to the Word they are a ________________________.   (vs. 22) A.  Church attendance and Bible reading alone will _________save you. “And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ.”    (Romans 8:9b) B.  A person needs to ____________ of their sin and ________________             their life to Jesus Christ to be saved. “Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline.  So be earnest, and repent.  Here I am!  I stand at the door and knock.  If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.”  (Revelations 3:19-20)    “That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord’, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.  For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.” (Romans 10:9-10) C.  Jesus made a ___________ atonement for our sin and it is allocated to           every sinner who repents.    II.  The 2nd picture James paints is of an individual who looks intently into a          mirror and sees dirt on their ______________ yet walks away and does          nothing about it.  (vs. 23) A.  The Word of God will reveal who you are and the ______________ that need to be made.
