             Run to the Battle Line
 
Text:     1 Samuel 17:20-24; 32
Thesis: “Let no one lose heart.”
 
 I. David encountered the _________________________.(vs. 11 & 20-24)
             A. David was sent by his father to his three older brothers with food while they were serving on the __________________ lines of battle.
             B. David found his brothers, the King and the entire Israeli army paralyzed by                   __________________. (See vs. 11& 24)
                          1. Fear and Discouragement robbed the entire army of ________.
 Action Step:  Be Aware of the twin evils of fear and discouragement.
“ 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified;  do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go." (Joshua 1)
 7 For God did not give us a spirit of timidity(fear), but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline. (2 timothy 1)
 
II. David encountered the ________________________ that struck fear in the     hearts of everyone.  (vs 22)
             A. David was well ___________________of the present danger.
                          1. David _____________________ witnessed the enormous physical                                size of Goliath. (See verse 4)
                          2. David ________________the fearful threats from the trained                       powerful warrior called Goliath. (See 23 &8-10)
                          3.. Goliath was a formidable foe that should not be taken lightly.

 Action Step:  Know that God Promises to be with you”
 Jesus promised: “ And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.
                                  (Matthew 28:20)
God’s word states further, “If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all--how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? (Romans 8:31-32)
 
 III. David’s reaction was different because he encountered the _____________of                God.

 2. Christian’s need to live so close to God that the problems of the world are not   overwhelming.
8 Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.
