Text Box:     Christians-It is Time to Get Serious   Text:     James 4:7-10 Thesis: 11 And do this, understanding the present time. The hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. (Romans 13)   I. God is calling ______________________ to “submit” to him. (vs7)      16  "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in                     him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world              to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. (John 3)       10  For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost." (Luke 19)   A. God is often wrongly accused. It is not God’s desire to condemn humanity, God _______________ everyone. B. “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”  (vs.6b) C. _______________has destroyed many relationships because it will keep               you from saying “I am sorry” or “I need help” or “I was wrong”.             1. We must come to God recognizing our sin and need for help.   II. Society as a whole is being _________ away from God by Satan and the anti-God philosophy of the world. A. The Apostle ______________ in Romans 1:18-27 describes the spiritual and moral  condition of humanity in a downward spiral. 1st phase-Some fail to acknowledge God as the _______________ of all things, while all of creation screams of a creator. (Romans 1:18-20) 2nd phase- The scripture states, “Although they know God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave ________________ to him.” (Romans 1:21) 3rd phase-Paul states further, “They exchanged the ____________of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the creator-who is forever praised, Amen.” (Romans 1:23 &25). 4th phase-In the ______________stage of the downward spiral a sinful society turns to “sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with another.” (Romans 1:24&26-27)   III. Today the Christian needs to “come near to God, ______________the devil”, seek forgiveness and be single minded about serving God. (Vs7b-8) A. The good news is if we “come ______________ to God he will come near                   to us” B. Christians need to ________________their power in Jesus and resist the              devil. C. Today we must get extremely _________________about our salvation. A. God’s word tells us “there is a time to weep and a time to laugh.”(Ecc. 3:4)
