The Exact Time

Text:       John 4:43-54
Thesis:  “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”  (Matthew 6:33)

 I.  The official ___________________ Jesus out to come and heal his son.
“He went to him (Jesus) and begged him to come and heal his son.” (vs. 47)
     A.  The official did not sit at home and just __________Jesus would come.
             *  “Ask. . . seek. . . knock”  (see Matthew 7:7-12)
             *  And he said unto them, “This kind can come forth by nothing, but by                    prayer and fasting.” (Mark 9:29 KJV)
     B.  The official’s ______________ in Jesus compelled him to go the extra               mile to find Jesus.
“The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man (or woman) availeth                much.” (James 5:16b KJV)
1.  “Righteousness” produces power – keep yourself pure before God.
2.  “Fervency” produces power – put your heart & soul into it.
Action Step:  In this New Year ask God to train your eye to keep it always, and intently focused on Jesus.

II.  The official’s fervency was ____________________________by Jesus.
      A.  There was a supernatural ___________________ in Jesus’ heart.
“Who touched me?” Jesus asked.  When they all denied it, Peter said; “Master, the people are  crowding and pressing against you.”
But Jesus said, “Someone touched me; I know that power has gone out from me.”  (Luke 8:45-46)
      B.  The official was not _______________________ by Jesus’ comment              concerning people’s lack of faith.
“Unless you people see miraculous signs and wonders, “ Jesus told them, “you will never believe.”  (vs. 48)
     1.  Jesus wants our faith in him to be __________________ than having our problems solved.
Action Step:  Not only seek answers to your problems but seek a deeper
relationship with Jesus.

III. The official discovered that his son was healed at the __________ time that Jesus spoke the words.
“Then the father realized that this was the exact time at which Jesus had said to him ‘your son will live.’” (vs. 53)
     A.  Jesus is never early, he is never late, he is always right on time.
          1.  The disciples learned this in the midst of a __________.
                          (see Mark 4:35-41)
Action Step:  In the New Year (’08) ask God to recalibrate our perspective on time.  May we move from a microwave mentality to trusting in Jesus – the
Alpha & Omega, the beginning and the end.
