God Gives the Increase

 Text: 1 Kings 17: 8-16
Thesis: God has granted every one of his children the privilege of giving and a method that makes it equitable for all.

 I. God calls ________________ to give of their resources even when it requires _______.
                 Love Incs. Mission Statement
FAITH-Fully Anticipating (the) Impossible Through Him

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.  This is what the ancients were commended for. (Hebrews 11:1-2)

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. (Hebrew 11:6)

                 A. God speaks to the ______________of Zarephath about “supplying Elijah with                  food” in verse 9.
1. The NIV & KJV translates verse 9 as God “Commanded” the widow to give.
                                  2. The NLB translates verse 9 as God “instructed”
B. However, the scriptures reveal in verse 12 that the widow _____________to have no knowledge of God “commanding” or “instructing” her to provide food for Elijah.
1. Possibly she was ________________ that the still small voice of God was from God or her own wild imagination.
2. Possibly she _______________to over look God’s command due to the appearance of a lack of resources.

II. God _________________ the faithfulness of all people in spite of their economic status.

Many rich people threw in large amounts. But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a fraction of a penny. Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others.  They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything--all she had to live on." (Mark 12:41b-44)
A. God has developed an equitable system so that every one of his children can _________________________ equally, it is called the tithe.

                 “Tithing’s not based upon millions-
                 It’s just percentage that counts,
Whether your income is five figures
Or is earned in lesser amounts.

If you have but a dollar,
                 A dime must go in the plate;
Then you’re sure you are giving
To God at his specified rate.” UNKNOWN

III. God chose the widow of Zarephath to give because he wanted her to experience joy and witness a _________________________.
                 A. There is ____________ in seeing
1) another person rescued from the death grip of Satan
2) a starving child fed a meal
3) an addict liberated
4) a married couple fall in love once again
5) a dysfunctional family experience God’s harmony of life.
6) etc.
B. God wanted the widow of Zarephath (his child) to __________________something spectacular.
