Text Box:   Standing Stones Text: Joshua 4:1-9; 1 Peter 2:5 Thesis: Christians are God’s “Standing Stones” for all the world to see.   I.  People need to see            so they can see God. “9Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me--put it into  practice. And the God of peace will be with you.” (The Apostle Paul) A. The stones were stood up so they would be             visible. B. As Christians we have                 God’s “Standing Stones”.        “5you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.”(1Peter 2:5) C. God places our lives in full view of the               that others may see and give God the praise.        14"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. 15Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5) D. As Christians we may be the only                              of Jesus Christ they ever see.   II.  When the people see you they                 , “What happened here?”           “Each of you is to take up a stone on his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the Israelites, 6to serve as a sign among you. In the future, when your children ask you, `What do these stones mean?' 7tell them that the flow of the Jordan was cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD. When it crossed the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. These stones are to be a memorial to the people of Israel forever." (Joshua 4) A.   Your personal                     of God’s saving grace in your life is        what you should tell when others ask “What happened to        you?” 1. Your testimony is a special              that God can use to lead others to Christ. 2.                     out your testimony so that you will know it well enough to share it. B.    We are God’s “Standing-Living Stones”.
