The Church Communicates Compassion Hope and Community

Text: Mark 2:1-12

Thesis: The world needs to here about God’s Compassion, Hope and community.

I. God has compassion on the human condition.

A. The crowds will flock to Jesus.

1. Man is born in Sin.

“All have sinned…” Romans 3:23

“ …every inclination of his heart is evil from childhood.” Gen8:21

2. Jesus has Compassion on the crowds.

“When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless.”
Matthew 9:36

II. The Christian community creatively seeks to bring people to Jesus.

A. “How beautiful are feet of those who bring good news.” Romans 10:15

1. Love will compel us to go to extremes.

“Love is Patient, love is kind…” 1Cor. 13

B. The Church is the life saving vessel of Christ to a lost and die world.

1. Is the churches primary role to be the defender of the faith and preserver of the saints or Christ to a lost world.

III. Jesus is mankind’s only hope.

A. Our World needs the hope that Jesus provides.

B. Jesus has the power and authority to heal.

1. Jesus can forgive sin and restore relationships.

2. Jesus can heal the mind and the body as well as the soul.
