Great Opportunities Brilliantly Disguised as Impossible Situations

 

 

Text: Gen11:1-9

Thesis: God will go to great lengths to save individuals and societies.

  

I. They were stifled by foolish ambitions.

            A. Know and establish God’s goals.

                        1. They were caught up in the latest technology and not God.

                        2.  “They said” (vs3) was more important than what God said.

                                    “1Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. 2Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:1-2[1]

 

                B. Their lack of communications with God caused them to misuse their time talents and resources.

 

            C. They were teaching their children unproductive lifestyles.

 

II. God, in love, knew that change must be made to create a wholesome society.

            A. The language change was difficult but difficulty caused them to reevaluate.

 

III. God longs to have a relationship with mankind, his greatest creation.

A. God has designed PRAYER as a means to maintain communication and enrich our relationship with him.

 

“and who put no confidence in the flesh-- 4though I myself have reasons for such confidence.

If anyone else thinks he has reasons to put confidence in the flesh, I have more: 5circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; in regard to the law, a Pharisee; 6as for zeal, persecuting the church; as for legalistic righteousness, faultless.

7But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. 8What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things.” Philippians 3: 3-8[1]
