The
Refuge

In the last days the mountain of the Lord’s temple will be established as chief among the mountains;
it will be raised above the hills, and people will stream to it.  Many nations will come and say, “come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
to the house of God of Jacob.”           Micah 4:1-2

Our church can be Your home.

PREPARING TO CROSS OVER THE JORDON

TEXT:  Joshua 3:1-6

I. Go anticipating that God will meet with us and leave behind any unrealistic expectations.

Joshua and the two and a half million people paused for a time of reflection and planning.

Joshua instructed them to make God the focal point of the crossing.

“When you see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God…
you are to move out from the position and follow it.” (vs.3)

The Israelites were possibly desiring the “land of milk and honey” more than God.

The goal of the believer is always to seek God and not lands or buildings.

BIBLICAL PRINCIPLE APPLIED

The building will never be able to supply all your needs but God can.

“Godliness with contentment is great gain.” (1 Timothy 6:6)

II. Go with a spirit of thanksgiving to God and not an attitude of self-exaltation.

The Israelites survived 430 years of slavery and 40 years in the desert only because God was with them.

The present day Christian is saved only because of God’ grace.

The Christian who gives God the glory reveals a humble heart.

The attitude of self-exaltation produces possessiveness and a desire to control.

BIBLICAL PRINCIPLE APPLIED

Give God the glory for the great things he has done.

Continue to “love thy neighbor as thy self”    Jesus

III. Cross over with a desire to “Go Forth” and not “Sit Down”

The Israelites’ nation did not possess the land “flowing with milk and honey” with out personal sacrifice.

BIBLICAL PRINCIPLE APPLIED

There are many people who need to come to know Jesus.

The new building needs to be completed.
