The
Refuge

In the last days the mountain of the Lord’s temple will be established as chief among the mountains;
it will be raised above the hills, and people will stream to it.  Many nations will come and say, “come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
to the house of God of Jacob.”           Micah 4:1-2

Our church can be Your home.

“Be the Church…Have the Heart of Jesus

TEXT:  Matthew 25: 31-46

THESIS:  The church is called to carry out the mission of Jesus.

I.  The heart of Jesus empathizes, it did not criticize.

A.       Jesus viewed people as “helpless and harassed.”

“When he (Jesus) saw the crowds, he had compassion on the, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.”  Matthew 9:36

B.       People often sum-up their view about those in need by saying, “They made their bed, let them lie in it.”

II.  Have the heart of Jesus…not false guilt.

A.       Jesus even said “The poor you will always have with you…”

1.       Those with a super sensitive conscience need be aware that Satan will appear as an “Angel of Light” and weight you down with false guilt.

a.        “God wants everyone to do something not someone to do everything.”  Pastor Chuck

III.  The heart of Jesus will be revealed at Judgement.

A.       God will hold us accountable for the sin of omission.

“Do not withhold good from those who deserve it, when it is in your power to act.  Do not say to your neighbor, come back later; I’ll give it tomorrow” – when you now have it with you.  (Proverbs 3:27-28)

1.       God separated the “sheep and the goats”

B.       Jesus takes it personal when we deny sustenance to those in need.

“When you did it to them, you did it to me.”

A Ministry of My Church

What is Love INC?  It is not an agency.  Love in the Name of Christ or Love INC is a ministry of MY CHURCH that uses the talents and gifts of everyone in MY CHURCH to meet people’s needs in practical ways all across the community.  Yes, there are now two Love INC clearinghouses to call for help.  But what happens when someone calls?  Think of it in terms of calling 911 – another example of a clearinghouse.  When a person dials 911, there is no one there who can actually help.  There are no firemen or doctors just sitting in the room ready to jump into action.  The 911 dispatcher has to call on someone – a person with the skills required to meet the need.  Similarly, when someone calls Love INC for assistance, there is no one sitting in that room to help, either.  A Love INC “dispatcher” must call on someone in the client’s family, an agency or a church

– MY CHURCH – with the skills that are

needed.  In other words, all of us

TOGETHER are Love INC.
