The
Refuge

In the last days the mountain of the Lord’s temple will be established as chief among the mountains;
it will be raised above the hills, and people will stream to it.  Many nations will come and say, “come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
to the house of God of Jacob.”           Micah 4:1-2

Our church can be Your home.

“Men in Ministry”

TEXT:  Mark 3: 13-19

THESIS:  Jesus called men into ministry to do battle with Satan.

I.  “Jesus called to him those he wanted and they came to him.” (vs 13)

A. The First people Jesus called into ministry were men.

  1. In modern times, women have run the church.

  2. God calls women into ministry, but this does not negate the
fact that He still calls men.

B. The men responded to Jesus’ call.

  1. God still calls but the response time is critical.

    a. Jesus is tough on excuses.  (see Matthew 8: 18-22)

    b. A person’s soul may lie in the balance of your “YES” or “NO.”

“What profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul?”
Matthew 16: 26

II. Jesus chose these men for three reasons.

FIRST REASON:  “That they may be with him.”  (vs 14a)

A. Jesus wants to spend time with us.

1. He loves us.

B. We need the strength Jesus’ presence brings.

1. Our devotional lives are critical to our salvation.

SECOND REASON:  “That he might send them out to preach.”  (vs 14b)

A. Jesus expects us to keep going out.

1. David fell into sin when he failed to go out with the fighting men.  (read II Samuel 11: 1)

THIRD REASON:  “and to have authority to drive out demons.” (vs 15)

A. The spiritual battle is not kids-play.

1. Men, we must quit leaving this dangerous work to our women.
