The
Refuge

In the last days the mountain of the Lord’s temple will be established as chief among the mountains;
it will be raised above the hills, and people will stream to it.  Many nations will come and say, “come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
to the house of God of Jacob.”           Micah 4:1-2

Our church can be Your home.

“THE EMERGENCY PLAN”

Be Ready…

TEXT:  Psalms 46: 1-4

THESIS:               Develop a God-size emergency plan to meet the mountain-size disasters.

I.  BE READY just in case the three mountain-size disasters strike.  (vs 2)

A.  God’s Word is addressing the apocalyptic type destruction or the most terrible disaster that one could imagine.

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble.  But take heart!

I have overcome the world.”  John 16:33

THE THREE MOUNTAIN-SIZE DISASTERS

1.   The loss of a family member to death.

a.      Death is an event of finality in this life.

2.   The loss of health to sickness or aging.

a.      It is experienced by everyone who lives long enough.

3.   The personal rejection by a significant other person.

a.      Rejection is an assault on our self-esteem and self-worth.

B.  The human condition is frail at best.

But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.  We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.  We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.  For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that his life may be revealed in our mortal body.  So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you. II Corinthians 4: 7-12

II.  BE READY by having already implemented God’s Emergency Plan.

A.     Secure an up-to-date relationship with Jesus Christ

For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.  II Corinthians 15: 22

B.     Plug into as many spiritual outlets as possible.

1.      Daily prayer and devotions

2.      Sunday Worship

3.      Small Group Connection (Sunday School)

4.      Prayer Partners

C.     Know that god will never leave or forsake you.

SATAN’S METHOD OF ATTACK

1.      Deceptions and lies

2.      Separate you from others physically and mentally.

3.      Rob you of hope.

D.    Believe Jesus is preparing us an eternal home called Heaven!
