The
Refuge

In the last days the mountain of the Lord’s temple will be established as chief among the mountains;
it will be raised above the hills, and people will stream to it.  Many nations will come and say, “come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
to the house of God of Jacob.”           Micah 4:1-2

Our church can be Your home.

Jesus is “God with Us”

(Immanuel)

Text:  Matthew 1: 18-25

Thesis:  God-Almighty now dwells with those who love Him. Jesus is our “rock” and “fortress”.

I. God made a Supernatural/ Human grand entrance into the world.

A.     “This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about” (vs. 18a)

1.     A Virgin by the name of Marry was found to be with child through the

Holy Spirit.

a.      to be a virgin means there must not be any sexual contact.

2.     God came as a human/God baby.

II. God came to dispel all our fears not remove all of our difficulties. (vs.20)

A.    The angel said to Joseph, “do not be afraid to take Marry home as your wife”.

1.     To trust in God is to have peace in spite of difficulties and uncertainties.

2.     God’s Word states elsewhere:

“27But Jesus immediately said to them: "Take courage! It is I. Don't be afraid.” (Mathew 14)

* “9Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be

discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go." (Joshua 1:9

28Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.” (Matthew 10)

B.    God is a “Dragon” slayer.

7And there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. 8But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven. 9The great dragon was hurled down--that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.” (Revelations 12)

8Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” (1Peter 5)

10And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.”(Revelations 20)

III. God came to remove all barriers between man and Himself through his son.

A.    Sin separates mankind from God  (see Romans.3:23 and 6:23)

            B. Jesus Saves!
