Invest where the returns continue through all eternity. * * * I. “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth but treasures in heaven.” (vs. 19a & 20a) A. This world is not our home ~ we are only passing through. 1. We are only here for a short while. “Repeatedly the Bible compares life on earth to temporarily living in a foreign country. This is not your permanent home or final destination. You’re just passing through, just visiting earth. The Bible uses terms like alien, pilgrim, foreigner, stranger, visitor, and traveler to describe our brief stay on earth.” (Purpose Driven Life, page 48) II. “Where your treasure is” will determine how long it will last. (vs. 21) A. Treasures on earth are temporary. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal II Corinthians 4:18 1. Fix your eyes in spiritual goals and destination. 2. Material things are being destroyed daily. “Where moth and rust destroy, and where thieve break in and steal.” (vs 6) III. “Store up for yourselves treasures in heaven.” (vs 20a) A. Give of your tithes to the storehouse. “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it. I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not cast their fruit,” says the LORD. Malachi 3:10-11 B. Give of Your Time and Talents. 1.
