| “STAND AT THE CROSSROAD AND LOOK”
Text: Jeremiah 6:16 Thesis: May God give us perspective and direction from his Word concerning our responsibility to our country.
I. “Look” where we are at as a nation. “Stand at the crossroads and look; A. A “crossroad” is a place where observations are made and a new direction is decided. 1. The prophet Jeremiah is calling his people to look at their nation and notice how far they have fallen. Action Step: Today God is calling the Christian to take notice of our own Godly heritage and how far we have fallen. 2. The prophet Jeremiah is calling his people to “ask (God) for the ancient paths”. Action Step: The Christian needs to repent and call on God to heal their land. 14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 15 Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place. (2 Chronicles)
1) We must repent of living ungodly lives. 16 Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives in you? (1Cor 3)
2) We must repent of not praying for our leadership. 2 1 I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone-- 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. (1 Tim)
3) We must repent of not voting. 17 Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn't do it, sins.(James 4)
4) We must repent of voting with temporal needs in mind and not God’ Holiness.
4) We must repent of voting for men and women who are not in support of Christ and his mission for man. 23 Jesus turned and said to Peter, "Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men." (Matthew 16)
