The
Refuge

In the last days the mountain of the Lord’s temple will be established as chief among the mountains;
it will be raised above the hills, and people will stream to it.  Many nations will come and say, “come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
to the house of God of Jacob.”           Micah 4:1-2

Our church can be Your home.

“Dapper Dads”

TEXT: Ephesians 6:10-20

THESIS: Dads are the providers/protectors of the family.

...................

I. Dads, are you aware of the spiritual dangers that surround your children and youth every day?

A. Children need to hear from their fathers that “the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” (1 Peter 5:8)

B. Dads, sound the alarm today!

II. Dads, are your children and youth dressed in the “Full Armor of God” and prepared for spiritual battle? (vs. 13)

A. As dads we cannot save our child’s soul from hell. We can only lead them to Jesus and encourage them to give their lives to Him.

B. When it comes to our children’s spiritual dress we cannot leave it solely up to mom.

NOTE THE FOLLOWING SPIRITUAL ARMOR:

Defensive Armor

a. “Belt of Truth” ~ an enlightened understanding of Christ and God’s plan for their lives. Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:6)

b. “Breastplate of Righteousness” ~ a holy life to absorb criticism and persecution.

c. “Shield of Faith” ~ to ward off the enemy’s vicious attacks.

Offensive Armor

a. “Sword of the Spirit” ~ the Word of God in our hearts and minds.

b. “Feet Shod” ~ for the long march of obedience.

c. “Helmet of Salvation” ~ to guide and direct our thoughts toward Christ and not the world.

d. “Prayer” ~ for constant communication with the Father.

III. Dad, you must model God’s spiritual armor in front of your children and youth at all times.

A. Dads, don’t be caught out of uniform.
