“For Such a Time as This” Text: Esther 4:12-17 Thesis: God continues to bring victory to His people and mercy to the lost. * * * I. God’s people are always in His thoughts and the object of His mercy and concern. A. The Jews, while in exile, wandered far from God. “God demonstrated His love...” Romans 5:8 B. God loves the sinner and prepares a method of salvation. 1. Salvation may come in the form of spiritual salvation through Christ or physical salvation through Godly men and women as in the case of Queen Esther. II. God’s providence is ever over His people to save them from the plotting of their enemy. A. God used Mordecai and Esther as agents of salvation from their physical enemies. 1. Haman hated God’s people and master-minded a plan to have every one of them killed by the hand of the king. 2. God, in His great wisdom and power had already set His salvation plan in motion and Haman was totally unaware. “I will contend with those who contend with you, and your children I will save.” Isaiah 49:25 III. God raises up Christian leaders “for such a time as this.” (4:14) A. It wasn’t an accident that Esther became Queen. B. Esther did not become queen for her glory but for God’s glory. C. Esther did not become queen for personal gain but to carry out God’s good, pleasing and perfect will.” “For if you remain silent at this time...you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this?” (vs.14) IV. The Power of Prayer is plainly taught. (4:15-16) |
