     Peace on Earth

 

 

TEXT:        Luke 2: 8-14

THESIS:    Jesus came to give us courage, joy and peace on earth.

I.  Jesus gives the gift of___________________.

 

“Do not be afraid” (vs 10a)

 

A.      God recognizes our fears and desires to replace them with courage.

 

 

II.  Jesus gives the gift of __________________.

 

“I bring you good news of great Joy”  (vs 10b)

 

A.      Joy comes from knowing Jesus and does not depend on external circumstance.

 

B.      Happiness depends on external circumstances.

 

 

III.  Jesus gives the gift of _________________.

 

“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on who his favor rests.”  (vs 14)

 

A.      God can quiet the storms of life and give us a “peace that transcends all understanding.”  (Philippians 4:7)
