TREASURES OF THE HEART

TEXT:        Luke 2: 8-20 (vs 19)

THESIS:    “Where your treasures are there will be your hearts also.”  Matthew 6:21

I.  Not everything that glitters is genuine gold.

A.     The types of fools gold of today are:

1.       The Prophet Daniel prophesied about the “Information Age” in Daniel 12:4.  He states, “Man will go here and there in search of knowledge.

2.      The Apostle Paul states in 2 Timothy 3: 1-5, But mark this:  There will be terrible times in the last days.  People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God ~ having a form of godliness but denying its power.  Have nothing to do with them.

3.      Jesus states “That false  Christs will appear.”  Matthew 24:24

II.  Do not settle for fools gold.

A.     All the fools gold in the world will not buy you a place in heaven.

“What profits a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul.” Mark 8:36

III.  To discover the treasures of God you must have the true treasure Map.

A.    The Shepherds listened to the Angels and the 3 Wisemen followed the Star.  However, they both needed the Scriptures.

IV.  Jesus is the Treasure of Life.

Jesus said, “I am the Way and the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
