God Looks at the Heart” (am service)

TEXT:  James 2: 1-13

THESIS:  Scriptural evangelism seeks to reach all people.

I.  God does not practice ___________________ salvation to show favoritism.

A.     People have a natural tendency or bend to show favoritism.

1.       There are various types of discriminations.

a.      economic

b.     educational

c.      culture

d.     color of skin

e.      language difference

f.       nationality

g.      race

h.     age (unborn to the eldest)

II.  God’s Word __________________ teaches against “discrimination” (vs 4) and showing “favoritism” (vs 9)

A.     Favoritism is a sin. (vs 9)

B.      God enlightened the Prophet Samuel on favoritism in I Sam. 16:7

C.     The Jewish leaders acknowledged that Jesus was “no respecter of persons” in Matthew 22: 16, Mark 12: 14 & Luke 20: 21.

D.     God taught Peter an important lesson in a vision.  See Acts 10.

Peter then states “I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism but accepts men from every nation who fear Him and do what is right.”  Acts 10:34

E.     Discrimination violates the second greatest command.  “Love thy neighbor as thyself.”
