The
Refuge

In the last days the mountain of the Lord’s temple will be established as chief among the mountains;
it will be raised above the hills, and people will stream to it.  Many nations will come and say, “come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
to the house of God of Jacob.”           Micah 4:1-2

                        I Need to Know...

                                                Jesus Rides a White Horse

TEXT:          Revelations 6:1-2 and 19:11-16

THESIS:      Jesus is in control of all things and brings victory to our lives.

I.  I need to know Jesus as a “Conqueror”.

A.     Jesus came riding on a donkey at his 1st  coming but at his 2nd coming he’ll be riding a “white horse”  (Revelations  6:2 & 19:11)

“Quite certainly, the white horse and its rider stands for conquest in war.  When a Roman general celebrated a triumph, that is, when he paraded through the streets of Rome with his armies and his captives and his spoils after some great victory, his chariot was drawn by white horses, the symbol of victory.”  William Barclay

1.       “Its rider held a bow” (vs 6:2b)

In the Old Testament the bow is always a symbol of military power.

2.      “His eyes are like blazing fire” (vs 19:12a)

No enemy can stand before him.

3.       “On his head are many crowns” (vs 19:12b)

Jesus is the “King of Kings and Lord of Lords”

4.      “He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood” (vs 19:13)

This is not his own blood, but the blood of his enemy.  (see Isaiah 63:1-3)

B.      Jesus is mighty enough to conquer all your fears.

II.  I need to know Jesus as being “Faithful and True”.  (vs 29:11b)

A.     “For I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.”  (2 Timothy 1:12b)

III.  I need to know that I ride with Jesus on the white horse and not against him.

               A.  Jesus has won the battle and I need to be on his side.
